You wish to travel or hike in Morocco with your kids? Here is an easy trip for parents traveling with their children. A suitable trek around berber villages in the high atlas mountains. Trekking is the best way to discover Morocco and meet its local people. Mules and rivers will delight the children in the Atlas mountains.
Accompanied by a professional local guide, you will learn to observe nature, to know the local customs, and understand the history of the region you are trekking in. Children can ride on mules, bathe in rivers, make a campfire, watching the stars … This is an opportunity for the family to live a rich experience and unique!
Day 2:Marrakech – Tassa Ouirgane – Tiziane. Start of trekking. In the morning, short transfer by minibus to the foothills of the Atlas. The mule team expects us at Tassa Ouirgane. Lunch under olive trees. First walk to reach the beautiful village of Tiziane (alt. 1,700 m). Dinner and overnight in a bed in the shade of walnut trees. 3 hours of walking. Altitude difference uphill: 250 m.
Day 3: Tiziane – Tizi Oussem – waterfalls Ighouliden. We ascend the river where the villagers working in their fields. Hiking is magical in the villages of Azaden valley; akin to walking into a giant garden: terraced fields, juniper, walnut, water mills near the river, adobe houses from ocher dark red … After letting business in Tizi Oussem mounted with waterfalls Ighouliden (alt. 2,300 m) in a beautiful forest of juniper. These are the highest of the massif, fifty meters. Back in the village, where we can possibly enjoy the hammam. Night in a comfortable house in Tizi Oussem, large picturesque town of a very homogeneous architectural point of view. 5 hours of walking. Altitude difference uphill: 820 m. Vertical drop down: 540 m.
Day 4: Tizi Oussem – Tizi Mzik – Imlil. After the Valley Azaden, we head towards the valley of Ait Mizane via the Tizi Mzik (alt. 2,490 m). The Toubkal slopes begin to appear, and the Jebel Oukaïmedem; the contrast between the green valleys and arid mountains that dominate is still striking. Arrival in Imlil village.. Overnight at a nice guesthouse with a beautiful view. Hearty meals, varied and excellent. 5 hours of walking. Altitude difference uphill: 570 m. Altitude difference descent 680 m.
Day 5: Imlil – Tizi n’Tamatert (altitude 2,350 m.) – Valley Imenane – Tinghrine. After a very nice little breakfast on the terrace, departure for an easy climb of Tamatert Pass. At the top, panoramic Imenane Valley, we’ll find out and the valley of Ait Mizane that we have just left; and up there, Toubkal. Down a zigzag path to Tinghrine, village surrounded by terraced fields. Night in a cottage with a beautiful view of the mountains. 4 hours of walking. Altitude difference uphill: 525 m. Vertical drop down: 425 m.
Day 6: Imenane valley- Imeskar village Nice quiet day descent by mule tracks and a few borrowed track, passing through villages: Ikiss, Amssakrou, Arg. Lunch along the river, under the walnut trees, then continue the trail to the village of Imeskar. Night in a shelter. Possibility hammam. 5 hours of walking. Height difference downhill: 525 m.
Day 7: Imeskar – Tizi El Bour Pass- Imi Oughlad – Marrakech. After breakfast, crossing the Tizi El Bour (altitude 1,500 m.); a beautiful look at the different valleys, villages and 4,000m peaks of the High Atlas. Last lunch with the local team. The minibus will be waiting for us at Imi Oughlad expected for a short transfer to Marrakech. Overnight at a Hotel Riad in Marrakech. 2 hours of walking. Altitude difference uphill: 100 m. Height difference downhill: 80 m.
Day 8: Transfer to the airport.
